Windows 10: Unable to minimise, maximise, close or move some windows. Cannot change Windows 10 UAC...

I noticed around the time of the last Windows update that I could no longer use the minimise, maximise and close icons in the top right of most windows that I open. I can still close the window by right clicking on it on the task bar and selecting close.

Edge seems unaffected.


I also noticed that I cannot do any task that the UAC requires an accept input for.

This is because the box no longer comes up. The screen just goes blank(all icons and task bar disappear) and darkens like it does when the accept box comes up but there is no box and after a few seconds it kicks me back to the main windows screen without making ant changes.

I cannot even change the UAC settings as this requires you to accept the change which I cannot do due to it not coming up.


This is becoming very frustrating.

Any ideas on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Maximise/Minimising windows is not working.


Hi all,

I have a problem with my Win10 laptop and the best way to describe it (i think!), is that the minimise/maximising of windows is not behaving as expected.
For example: sometimes I am unable to maximise a window properly, it seems to maximise, but not come to the front of the open windows. so if I have a browser open, and try to maximise MsWord, the word window maximises, but sits behind the browser so I then have to minimise the browser.
ALSO sometimes even this doesn't work as for some reason a window will change its position to off the screen so the only way to maximise it (without ending the program and re-starting), is to hover over the taskbar icon, right click the needed window and hit maximise.

I find this extremely frustrating as the simplest task (switching between windows) is a massive hassle.

If anyone has any suggestions of possible fixes or has had the same problem please get in contact! At this point it'd be nice to know i'm not the only person with this issue!

Unable to minimise a maximised window


So previously with the Snap Assist I was able to hold left click the toolbar as a maximised window and drag it down to minimise it, but now I can only maximise a minimised window like Google Chrome, why has this happened and how can I get this to work again?

Edit: Apparently I can do this with the tabs in Google Chrome, but not the actual window itself..

 

Edge closes when minimising

Often when I am minimising Edge (either through the right click minimise, or it's own minimise button), Edge will close instead of minimising.

Also, Edge will often close when I am minimsing or maximising an open window of File Explorer.

I have Windows 10, 64 bit, no Pen/Touch display.

Edge Version 25.10586.0.0

Anyone else having this issue/know of a fix?
