  1. Unable To Reactivate Windows 10 After Changing Hardware

I upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago. I used my Product Key and everything worked perfectly. I had a hardware failure and needed to replace my motherboard and CPU for my desktop computer.

After replacing the hardware I booted the PC and it went straight to Windows, but there were some driver conflicts so I opted for doing a fresh installation of Windows. I followed the steps exactly the same as the previous time but noticed that my Windows was not activated using the same key. I tried multiple times to reactivate Windows but with no luck, I read an article that stated I needed to remove my old "installation" from my Microsoft Account before I can reactivate.

I have done this, when logging into my Microsoft Account I am able to manage my "new" computer but I am unable to activate this as my Windows does not detect the device. Can someone please assist me as I do not want to buy a new Product Key when I already have a working one.

    Thank you

    :)

Unable to reactivate Windows 10 after hardware change

    Hi there,

I recently upgraded system hardware including Motherboard and am unable to reactivate Windows 10 via the activation troubleshooter:

I have tried removing my old PC configuration from the list of devices in my windows account but still no luck!

    • My windows account was linked to my PC prior to the change
    • Login in / out of my windows account has no effect
    • My version of windows was a free upgrade program from Windows 7, would this be an issue?
Any help and ideas would be appreciated!

    Many thanks,

    Reactivating windows after hardware change

Recently changed the hardware of my computer and trying to reactivate windows 10. I used the free upgrade that was sent out for windows 7 and 8.1 users to get access to windows 10. I followed all of the steps on the support page, but after selecting the
device that is linked and clicking activate a new page appears that says:

"Unable to activate windows, we can't reactivate windows on this device. Try again later."
