Windows 10: unable to register the dll/ocx regsvr32 failed with exit code 0x5

Every time I install the application, a pop up always appears "unable to register the dll/ocx regsvr32 failed with exit code 0x5",Why is this?

C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\SoundGridAsio.dll unable to register DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3

This message occurred when I was in the process of updating, registering and installing Waves Soundgrid plugins, Dll's and other files using the Waves Central app. Upon proceeding with the updates, I received the error message during updates: "C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\SoundGridAsio.dll

unable to register DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3". Everything I try to do to remedy this ends with the following error message: "Runtime Error {at 47:31}: Could not call proc." Now, I cannot open my related Waves apps because of this one issue.

I saw in some circumstances, where one might go into RegSvr32 and change any conflict with SysWOW64 and RegSvr32, by adding the file map/location and the dll. But I wouldn't know how to enter it to where I need to. Waves support has no suggestion about Windows. Just to go in, uninstall and delete everything and start over. I can't do that. I run Windows 10; 64 bit system. Please help.

To manually register OCX and DLL files on Windows, you can use the command-line tool. Here are the steps:regsvr32



Open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges. To do this, press the Windows key, type "cmd," right-click on "Command Prompt," and select "Run as administrator."



Navigate to the directory where the OCX or DLL file is located. Use the command to change directories. For example, if the file is in the "C:\MyFiles" directory, type: cd C:\MyFiles



Once you are in the correct directory, use the command to register the file. The syntax is as follows:

regsvr32 <filename>

Replace with the name of the OCX or DLL file you want to register. For example:regsvr32 myocx.ocx

Press Enter to execute the command. You should see a dialog box confirming that the registration was successful. Below are some situations that you may encounter:





The error can be because you are trying to register a 32-bit DLL or OCX file through 64-bit Regsvr32. You need to use the 32-bit Regsvr32 that is located in the Syswow64 folder. You can type the following command to register 32-bit DLL or OCX in a 64-bit operating system.

%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\regsvr32 <filename>

If there are any dependencies (other DLLs or OCXs) required by the file you're registering, make sure they are present in the same directory or already registered.

Unable to register DLLs and OCXs in Windows Enterprise 1909 build

Hi all,

I have installed Windows 10 Enterprise version with latest 1909 build, from then the DLLs and OCXs of my application are not registering. I'm facing the issue
"The module xxxx.dll may not be compatible with the version of Windows that you are running.Check if the module is compatible with an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe". My DLLs and OCXs are of 32-bit.

I tried registering from command prompt with elevated permissions in the following ways but all of them prompted me the same issue.

regsvr32 xxxx.dll

%systemroot%\SysWoW64\regsvr32.exe xxxx.dll

%systemroot%\System32\regsvr32.exe xxxx.dll

Please let me know if there is any solution to resolve the issue. Thanks in advance.
