Windows 10: Unable to sign in to Link To Windows on my phone because "my Microsoft account type doesn't...

So I've been trying to link my phone to my Windows, but for some reason time I try to log in to my phone's Link To Windows app it gives me a message saying "This type of account doesn't work with this particular service". I've never had this problem before and it has always worked fine. I don't know what happened after I updated the app but it stopped working. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem and how I can fix it?

You don't make a new account & try to move your entitlements to it, you change the email address associated with the original account.

• You do not have a data connection.
• Your phone is in a "bad state."

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

• Is this the only account on the computer?
• Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
• Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.
