Windows 10: Unable to type in search bar and notes

High guys ive recently encountered a lot of issues with my PC where im unable to type in search bars throughout all of windows, and applications such as notepad. I ran a windows app diagnostics tool which fixed an issue with the user access control UAC or something like that and it was turned off. The trouble shooter turned it back on but it didnt change anything. Just wondering if theres something else i can do because its really frustrating when all i can do is type something in google and then copy and paste it into the search bar just to search.

If you meant the Cortana search bar, review the suggested solutions on these threads:

Can't type in search bar or sticky notes

Hi Helen,

It's quite unusual because based on your description, you have multiple laptops and you can't use the Search and Sticky Notes. In this case, since this is happening on all of your device, then we suggest is that you try to reset the Sticky Notes app. Just
simply go to Settings, select Apps, look for
Sticky Notes under the Apps & features tab, click Sticky Notes to open the
Advanced options, then click Reset.

Now, to troubleshoot the issue with Search, you can run the
Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

Just follow these steps on how to run the troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + X, on the keyboard then click
  Control Panel.
• Under the Control Panel tab, click Troubleshooting. If you can't see that option, click on
  View by to change the icons.
• Click on Search and Indexing Troubleshooter, then run the tool.

Corrupted Windows components is one of the possible reasons why you were unable to type anything on your search bar. To better assist you with your concern, we would like to know more information. Kindly answer the following:

• When did the issue start?
• Did you make any changes on your computer prior to the issue?
• Were you able to type using other applications like Word, Notepad or Excel?
