Unable to upgrade my Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro

Due to the pandemic, I have to work from home. Because of that I recently bought a new gaming desktop, an HP Omen Obelisk mainly for running graphically intensive work for my company. Realizing that the Pro version of Windows is more secure, I decided to upgrade from the Home edition that came with the computer.

Unfortunately when I tried using the USB stick, it said that it had to completely reinstall Windows which mean forcing me to wipe all my data from the last 3 months.

So I tried to upgrade through Settings, skipping the USB stick and use the product key instead. However, after entering the key, I keep getting pop ups that said, "Unable to upgrade your edition - We can't activate Windows on this device right now. You can try activating again later or go to the Store to by genuine Windows." My two tries gave me two different error codes. 0x8dd0013 and 0x8015dc12. It is interesting that when I attempted my second try, I noticed that it said, "the last product key ID: some code you entered can't be used on this copy of Windows. 0x87DD0013" The "some code" is not the same code that I entered the first time around. It is really strange.

It is really frustrating to see this especially that the Pro edition is quite expensive. = Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

    Windows 10 Release Date Announced

Windows 10 Home will be $119, Pro $199.

Microsoft: Windows 10 Home costs $119, Pro costs $199

Which is good news actually, because Windows 8.1 is loads cheaper than previous versions (retail licensing at Windows 7 OEM prices). And it sort of puts a huge hole in the Windows subscription theory.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.
