Windows 10: Unboxed a new PC, the Windows 10 on it isn't genuine.

I bought a brand new Dell Inspiron off Amazon. I went to personalize it, and ran into the statement "You need to activate Windows before you can personalize your PC."


In the Activation section of Settings, it states "Windows reported that no product key was found on your device. Error code: 0xC004F213"


I troubleshoot, it states "We weren't able to activate Windows on this Device. You can activate this device by going to the Store and purchasing a genuine copy of Windows."


I've located the product code by pulling up the Command Prompt and typing:

wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

The product key is there.


When I enter the product key into the product key field, it states "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one. 0xc004f050"


I've Googled both of those error codes and didn't really find an answer that worked, or that I understood.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Printer isn´t working after latest update.

After the latest update from Windows, my Canon Pixma ip6600 printer isnt working. In Device Manager it shows up as working properly but when I go to print it isn´t listed as an option in any programs. Troubleshoot suggests it´s a USB 2 printer on a USB
3 port and that that´s the problem but that cant be since it worked fine before the update. I´ve tried to uninstall and plug it back in but that doesn´t work either.

 

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
