  1. Undetectable File Corruption Following Blue Screen

Today whilst opening a chrome tab I got a blue screen of death that cited FAULTY_HARDWARE as the source. I rebooted as I have before shrugging it off as a normal error but following the restart I noticed my audio wasn't working, with the troubleshooter claiming that Windows Audio Services weren't working. I opened services.msc and tried restarting but got the error:

"windows could not start the windows audio service on local computer error 0x80070005"

After messing about a little bit I managed to get audio services to start by changing the Log On properties to Local System Account rather than the "This Account" option. Please note I have absolutely no idea of what the repercussions of this may be. This allowed windows to think my audio was now working but no audio was coming out and if I ran the troubleshooter then it returns the issue that the audio services are not responding.

This was not the only issue, however, and I was originally concerned about a possibility of malware as I received a prompt that my firewall was down. Upon trying to open the firewall section of the control panel through windows search bar I was greeted by the error

    "File System Error -2144926975"

I have since got my McAfee firewall back up using their own fix tool however I am still unable to access this section of the control panel.

I have used "sfc /scannow", DISM and chkdsk and I've even run them in safe start but they always return that there is no detectable file corruption. As far as i can tell i have corrupted windows files but i can't get the system to detect and repair them. I've tried updating windows to 2004 but I apparently can't as they haven't yet allowed it for my current system settings.

Is there a way I can fix windows without a full wipe and reinstall as I have lots of apps and data on my system that I don't want to lose?

    Looking forward to hearing any ideas;

    Thanks,

    Tom

  2. Corrupted file RAR

If the archive has been created using WinRAR, why don't you try WinRAR itself? It has a built-in repair feature for repairing corrupted archive (ZIP as well as RAR). Follow the steps given below:
    • Open WinRAR application in your system.
    • Now click on File tab > Open or simply press Ctrl+O.
    • A small window "Find Archive" will pop up. Locate the corrupt RAR archive from your system directory and select it.
    • Now click Open button.
    • Click Tools tab > Repair archive or simply press Alt+R.
    • Again a small window "Repairing File name.rar" will pop up.
    • Now click Browse to select a location to save the repaired archive.
    • Check the box "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and click OK.
    • WinRAR will start repairing of corrupt RAR archive. Once it gets completed click Close.
I hope the above steps will help you repair the corrupted RAR archive.

    Thanks.
