Windows 10: Unexpected installer error 2502 and 2503 when try to install from MSI package

    Unexpected installer error 2502 and 2503 when try to install from MSI package


    I recently fresh installed Windows 10 21H1 Build 19043.928 64 bit. I detected a known issue “unexpected installer error 2502 and 2503” . This error only showing when I try to install MSI package of some software such as 7-zip, Firefox, PowerShell Core Github, but when I install EXE package of same application, then no installer error showing, that means Windows prevents copying of temporary files in Windows “Temp” folder when try to install from MSI package onlymay be security reason. I already know solution, modify permission of "Temp" folder C:\Windows\Temp, 1st add new permission an

    Installation internal errors 2503 and 2502

    On Windows XP Pro SP2, when I try to install *anything* I get internal error 2503, click ok to acknowledge, immediately get internal error 2502, click ok, and machine aborts the installation.

    I can't find anybody who knows how to fix this problem.

    Error 2503 and 2502 installing/uninstalling

    Harry, you D'Man! That worked for me. Either Microsoft is changing all permissions to "Trusted Installer" during an update of some application is hijacking permissions to the Windows directory.

    Changing all the permissions back to Administrator worked like a charm. I can now uninstall any application that I want without getting the dreaded error message...

    The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2503.
