    Thanks very much, I'll give it a shot. I have actually opened the laptop before, just a few months ago, but I'll need to follow a guide to remove the HDD.

    Maybe I'll backup my files before I try it.

    When running chkdsk /x /r you can re-run it overnight.
    When it has completed use the information in this link to post the results into the thread:

    In post #6 there were images of the HD Tune results for Health, Error, and Benchmark.

    It seems that part of the Health results were not in the view posted.
    (There was a scroll bar and the retired block count was missing)

    Please repeat the Health scan and post an image of the results into the thread.

    Well I'm not entirely committed to removing my HDD and all that jazz, I need my laptop intact for a bit so I can get some work done. I was hoping if there was something else I should try. You know, there' something inside the back of the laptop that's been rattling when I move the laptop around, I wonder if that's the problem? Something might have come off? Although shaking it doesn't really give me a BSOD. It's been this way since mid July.

    It's useful to have results and images posted into the thread.

    Without the images or the result generated text files there is no way to verify results.

    For the HD Tune the OK are often misleading so if you post the health scan results we can interpret the results.
    The chkdsk /x /r txt results would also be useful. And this can be run while you are sleeping.

    I think Chkdsk failed due to a BSOD midway through..Nontheless I'm getting warnings about faulty harddrive.

    hopefully this works, idk how to upload the logs properly

    For the above HD Tune result if you move the scroll bar there should be more rows.
    Please post so that all rows are in view.

    I don't know what you mean to be honest. I don't see any of it and since my laptop crashed earlier I lost my data..unless it saved? Otherwise I'll have to re-run it again.

    Is it recommended to just use an old HDD and insert it here? Or is it too much hastle and I should just buy a new one? Do you guys think I should do a clean reset? Will that fix anything? I've already transferred all my files to an external, and another laptop is also currently carrying some data.

    From the very beginning of this thread you have been advised that the problem is with the hard drive. You will need to replace it, try the old one but as we do not know what condition it is in it is difficult to say if this is the best route.

    Well shit, I guess I know what to do for sure now. Can I grab any generic ASUS 2.5 inch SATA HDD on the market? I'm a bit confused since I've read some stuff about driver issues and whatnot when inserting a new HDD?

    edit: just to note, the warnings are about a faulty hardware, not a HARDRIVE, but I suspect the issue lies with the HDD nonetheless, going by the experts in this topic.

    It is not possible to be 100% sure. Faulty hardware does include the hard disk. When you open the case you can check for things like cable connections being loose etc. I found the following guide which might help.     Since it's a laptop, unless you want to disassemble it, all you can really check is how well it's seated (plugged in). Since you have a good backup, put in a new or at least different drive and do a Clean Install. If the problem is gone then you can be certain the drive was defective.

    The Fall Creators Update was releaased today, build 16299.15 so you might as well go with that.
