    WOW!!

I just plugged them into my Mac. They work without ANY drivers, just plug and play, all they needed was being selected in the sound panel. So now I know they are not defective, my desktop just refuses them for some reason, despite having the headset software installed *Sad Any other ideas?
When I put them on the desktop I put them into a USB port in the back, so im pretty sure im plugging it into at least a USB 2.

BTW .. on the Win10 PC, have you tried uninstalling the Helium 150 drivers and just let windows set it up how it wants ?

    1. Unplug headset
    2. Check Control Panel > Programs & Features > If the drivers/software for it are listed, then uninstall them.
    3. Open Device Manger > View > Show Hidden Devices
    4. See if it's still listed anywhere (Audio Input & Outputs, Sound & Video, etc)
    5. If it is then uninstall it and if it ask to remove drivers say ... yes
    6. I'd reboot PC, just for good measure
    7. Plug headphones in and let windows set it up it, however it wants

    Hi,

So I tried everything above, even after deleting the USB drivers listed in the device manager (under both sets of audio headings) and rebooting PC, plugging it in, it still automatically refuses to recognise or use the USB headset, the audio Icon in my system tray immediately goes to one with a red x on it, and as soon as I unplug my USB headset it goes back to normal operation again.

The way I uninstall devices is different from Eagle 51's.
My suggestion (since the other didn't work).
    Plug in the Headset
Go to the Device Manager, it should be (probably) listed under Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
RIGHT click on the entry for the headset and then LEFT click Uninstall. Also uninstall the drivers.
    Disconnect the USB headset
    Reboot the PC.
After Windows starts plug the Headset in (no driver install) and see what happens. Windows should detect and install It (and possibly it will work OK without the vendor drivers or Windows will install the correct plug and play drivers).

    Hey Mantock,
When you plug the headset in, what does Device Manager show. Are there any yellow exclamations, unknown devices, etc. If so, a screen shot of Device Manager might help.

This is with the USB headset plugged in, the entries that mention 'USB' are pretty much regarding that one USB headset device, as at this time I have no other USB audio equipment other than my desktop speakers which are fine.

all audio drivers are 'up to date' as in, I try to update them and they immediately come back as being all current

Looks Ok, but I did forgot to tell you to do .... View > Show Hidden Devices *Sad Just curious about any Plug Play and Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

Note: If there were problem devices they should show with out showing Hidden Devices.

USB Audio Device seems like a generic driver, check who is the Driver Provider, most likely Microsoft.

Try to scan with Driver Easy Free

Manufacturer of this headset is great, since the official driver download does not work. *Rolleyes

Also check, what is your default audio playback device, it should be USB audio.

    Hey Mantock,
It looks like the problem is the Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).

Here are somethings to try (if you haven't already).
    1. Turn Off Fast Startup - Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10 Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
    2. Turn Off USB Selective Suspend Settings - Turn On or Off USB Selective Suspend in Windows 10 Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
    3. See if you can find/install just the USB Host Controllers for your motherboard.
    4. Install the chipset drivers for your mother board (going to affect more than just USB stuff)
    5. Use a third party driver program - 11 Free Driver Updater Tools (Updated July 2017)

Turned off fast startup, makes no change, also checked and my usb selective suspend setting is disabled by default due to my power plan. I will look into getting the right Azus driver for USB host controllers. I remember installing the chipset driver for the motherboard before I reset the PC and that didn't make a change so I don't know that I should do that again?
I also was trying to use third party driver programs but the free ones all wanted money to do the job properly *Think but I will look at your link.

Thanks for all your dedicated help guys!

and thanks for your comments as well TairikuOkami I will look into those things as well

Here are the latest Asmedia USB 3.0 drivers (1st one in the list contains all of them - x86/x64)
    Microsoft Update Catalog

It's a .cab file so extract it to it's own directory using winrar, winzip, 7zip, etc .... If you can't run the setup.exe ... then update it manually thru Device Manager.

    1. Open Device Manager (Show Hidden Devices)
    2. Got to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
    2. Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller > Right Click > Update Driver > Browse My Computer > Browse to folder where your extracted the .cab file

Note: This is only for your USB 3.0 ports, so once you update the drivers try your headset in a USB 3.0 port.

These might be worth a try to get all your drivers identified properly and updated.

Downloaded the first on the list, when trying to install it, it comes up with a warning and stops installing itself, I will try via the device manager method you mentioned.
