Uninstalled Bluetooth Drivers, Now Missing From Device Manager

I don't normally make posts like this as I often can find solutions that work for me but in this case I am at my wits end.

I use an Xbox Wireless Controller to play games on my Windows 10 PC and occasionally it will have issues connecting. When this occurs I have found the easiest solution to be removing the device and re-pairing. However, this time around when I chose to remove the device Xbox Wireless Controller it was stuck "Removing device...". I did some searching online and found users who were able to fix the issue by going into Device Manager and disabling the bluetooth driver and then removing the device followed by re-enabling the driver. I did this but it did not work. I then tried it again but this time my PC prompted me upon disabling the driver that I would need to restart my PC for changes to take effect. I then restarted and was able to finally remove the device. However, in Device Manager I no longer had the option to enable the driver. I could only update or scan for hardware changes. I tried both of these options. I was prompted that my drivers were already up to date and the hardware scan didn't do anything. Again, I went looking online and found people who fixed this issue by uninstalling the drivers and restarting their PC or by running Windows Update which would reinstall the missing drivers. I tried this but it did not install the drivers that I had uninstalled. I then went and found the Bluetooth drivers for my motherboard Asus STRIX Z270E and installed the drivers manually Windows 10 x64. I then restarted my PC. Now in Device Manager the entire Bluetooth category was missing. Even when I select "Show hidden devices" it does not appear. Here is where I currently sit. So far I have tried running DISM and SFC to repair corrupted files some were found and fixed but it did nothing to help my issue. I have also tried scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager as well as manually adding legacy device drivers. I have also opened services.msc and changed the Bluetooth Support Services to run automatically rather than manually.

  2. Bluetooth services and device manager

    Hi Tina,

Having an incompatible driver causes functionality issues like what you are experiencing right now with your Bluetooth. To resolve such issue, we suggest that you uninstall and reinstall your Bluetooth drivers manually instead of letting Windows search for
an updated driver automatically. Here are the steps to do that:

    • Visit your device manufacturer’s website to download the latest driver.
    • Right-click on the Start button, then select Device Manager.
    • Select Bluetooth, then the Bluetooth driver
      name.
    • Right-click on driver and then select Uninstall device >Delete the driver software for this device check box >
      Uninstall.
    • After uninstalling, right-click the driver that's having the issue, select
      Update driver
      > Browse my computer for driver software.
    • Select Browse > look for the drivers you've just downloaded >
      OK.
    • Select Next > follow the steps to install the driver >
      Close
      .
    • Restart your computer.

You can also refer to this
