Windows 10: UNINSTALLING HP Laserjet 1320 Printer

I have an old printer (HP LaserJet 1320) installed in my windows 10 notebook. As the printer is not working fully as expected (i.e. the printer only prints only one copy of a document when it is asked to print several copies at a time), I was advised to uninstall the printer and re-install it.


I went to my system 'Printers and Scanners' option under 'Devices' to uninstall the printer but the printer is not listed. I then proceeded to 'Add and Remove' section of my system to uninstall the printer but alas, the printer's driver could not be found there either. Thereafter, I decided to uninstall all other Hp drivers found in the 'Add and Remove' section thinking that the printer's driver would be removed alongside.


To my utter dismay when I opened a document to test-print a document, the same printer which could not be located for uninstallation is still showing as being active and I was able to print a document contrary to my wish.


Thereafter, I went to the 'programme Files' section and deleted all HP-associated files. Yet the printer is still active!


What do I do to uninstall this stubborn printer's drivers from my system?

Windows 10 driver for hp 1320 laserjet printer not working

had a hard time to make this work and this is why I am pasting the solution here in order for everybody to find the solution more quickly than I did (I lost around 2 hours on this).

We just installed the Laserjet 1320 USB on the newest Windows 64bit

but it was a big hassle and trial and error troubleshooting.

The key to the entire process is to click Remove Device on the

1320 that is not recognized in the Devices and Printers window

in Control Panel and unplug the actual printer from the computer.

Then you Add Printer new and make a local Laserjet 1320 printer

where you select the HP Laserjet 1320 PCL5 driver in the devices list

and just set it to LPT1 local printer - making a non-working printer.

Do not plug the printer in yet. When you are successful the

non-working 1320 printer appears in the Devices and Printers

window with the correct printer graphic icon. Then keep the

Devices and Printers window open and plug in the Laserjet 1320

cable into a powered USB port on the computer tower - not into

a USB hub. Then Windows10 pnp somehow works properly, and

another instance of the printer finally shows up next to the

non-working printer. Then delete the non-working 1320 printer

out of the Devices and Printers screen.

Just an after thought,

The first thing I tried was to go through the Windows 10 Printer settings but I was not able to locate the HP 1320 printer in the list when I entered HP.

So I went directly to the HP support site.
