  1. Unsafe TLS security/ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

I have a client on Windows 10, that cannot access certain websites; two examples are sytner.co.uk and diy.com. In both cases, Edge and IE give the following error:

Can’t connect securely to this page

This might be because the site uses outdated or unsafe TLS security settings. If this keeps happening, try contacting the website’s owner.

    Chrome gives:

This site can’t be reached The connection was reset.

    Try:

    Checking the connection

Checking the proxy and the firewall

    Running Windows Network Diagnostics

    ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

This is happening on only one PC, unfortunately belonging to the company owner. One thing I've been able to pinpoint about the sites that fail to load using another PC is that they are using AES 128 for their SSL connection. All working sites are using AES 256. I tried installing Firefox, and that gives the same error as Chrome, which leads me to believe the problem is within Windows, rather than the browsers themselves.

The PC is completely up to date, and I have tried the following fixes already:

    DNS Cache flush

    Netsh Winsock reset

    Clear settings on all browsers

    Reset router

Use manual DNS setting, both OpenDNS and Google DNS

Remove and reinstall the network adapter

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Checked TLS settings 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 are checked as they should be. Sites are using 1.2

Clear SSL Slate in Internet options

Checked Proxy settings no proxy in use

    Using Regsvr32 to reload dll's

    Disabled/removed antivirus/firewall

I can't find any other suggestions online, and the only options I have left is a PC reset, since Windows 10 no longer has the refresh option. A reset, even when keeping the users files, will remove all the apps, and there are quite a few them so I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

Can’t connect securely to this page

This might be because the site uses outdated or unsafe TLS security settings. If this keeps happening, try contacting the website’s owner.

Your TLS security settings aren’t set to the defaults, which could also be causing this error.

    Try this:

    Microsoft Edge TLS Security

After trying everything (not a lot of steps) listed in the Microsoft Edge support site, I did a wider search and found this very simple youtube video that fixed it immediately:

For those who prefer not to click links the steps are simple:

    1. Click in the Cortana search bar next to the Win 10 Start button

    2. Type internet options

    3. Select internet options (control panel) from the list

    4. Click on the advanced tab

    5. Scroll down to the security section

    6. Make sure the following are all clicked:
    Use SSL 3.0
    Use TLS 1.0
    Use TLS 1.1
    Use TLS 1.2

    7. Click apply

    8. Refresh the page that was giving the error and it should now connect.

Hope this helps, it was a 30 second fix after hours of pounding my head against the error with the Support site suggestions.
