  1. Unusual 'Sticky Keys' problem - any ideas?

    Hi,

I have a client that uses the 'Sticky keys' to help him navigate around a PC as he has lost both hands.

The 'sticky keys' allow him to use the Numeric keypad to move the cursor around the screen, then use No. 5 to select the item he has the cursor over and then the 'enter' key to open it in the case of an icon on the desktop which is the equivalent of a single left click on a mouse, then the enter key, or if he is in a browser Chrome he will move the cursor over the search area and hit the No.5 key so he can start to type in his search.

This has worked well for years. Although he complained that the behaviour below was happening below for some time and across old PCs as well. This is not something new - it is just upsetting him

What is currently happening that this method works well for about 20mins to half an hour or so.

After which time when my client hits the No. 5 key to select the item for instance the search area in Google Chrome - and he also gets a sub menu appear - the same sub menu you would get if you select the right mouse button.

This sub menu can be dismissed if the 'escape' key or the No. 0 key is pushed from the keypad

Once this behaviour starts - it is constant until he reboots his PC, it then works as expected for 20-30 minutes of constant use before the same error starts to occur.

We have tried replacing the keyboard.

The client is using Windows 10 fully patched, Norton Anti Virus, MS Office 365.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? Or to stop it when it starts without a reboot?

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

    sticky keys

    Hi,

Sticky keys dialog box appears when you have press the Shift key five times continuously. It also lets you use the Shift, Ctrl, ALT, or Windows Logo keys by pressing one key at a time. You can set up Sticky Keys from the Ease of Access Center on the Control
    Panel. Follow the steps below:

    • Press the Shift key five times.
    • Once the dialog box appear, click the Go to the Ease of Access Center to disable keyboard shortcut link.
    • It will open the Set up Sticky Notes window in the Control Panel.
    • Uncheck Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times option.
    • You can also set the settings to your desired option.

After doing so, check if the same pop-up will appear while playing the game.

Get back to us if you need further assistance.

  3. Sticky Note Missing

    Hi KeithRawlings,

I'm Charles, an Independent advisor trying to help.

Let's see if with the following steps we can solve the problem:

1.- Open >> Sticky notes, when located on the taskbar (Right click on the option) >> Select: List of Notes, now check if your note is in that list.

2.- Follow the steps suggested by the Windows MVP in your article

    https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-sticky-notes-lost...

I hope the steps work for you

    Attentive to any comments

    Have a happy day

    Best Regards,
