Windows 10: Unusually long black screen on boot before log-in screen

Two days ago I had a total system crash, my entire OS froze and I was forced to turn off the machine.

Ever since then when booting there is a black screen that hangs for about 8 seconds, then everything proceeds as normal.

I wouldn't be so bothered if the OS was installed on an HHD, but it's not, windows is on my SSD, and those 8 extra seconds mean something is not going as expected, my muscle memory is trained to wait a certain amount of seconds after hitting the power button, and now I always find myself typing my password on a black screen (I know, first world problems).

I'm not really worried about the extra waiting time, but more about the reason why this is happening, for an SSD to take almost 10 extra seconds to load the OS means there must be something that went terribly wrong.

The crash also caused some unrelated problems, but I have tried running sfc /scannow and reinstalling my graphic drivers with no success. Maybe reinstalling the Visual C++ libraries?

Black Screen after Log on


Computer boots to windows log on,have no password here.After a minute on log on it go to a black screen,stays there forever. I can get to Task Manager from black Screen,lost on what to do next. Just want my Windows 10 back, not sure what caused this problem. Any Suggestion on what my next step should be?*Sad

So this is not a BSOD ? Have a Windows 10 disc or USB Flash Drive made ? How are you getting to task manager Ctrl.+Alt+Del ? Any cursor on screen ?

Laptop or Desktop (Very important) Windows 10 build 14.586 has a very annoying BUG: That causes Black Screen after login:
To date there is no cure until Microsoft send Update to fix the problem: OK here goes: When you Login and the Screen Goes Black ==>
Go to your Function Keys for Screen Brightness Chose to Lighten the Screen (This will make the screen Bright) so that you can view it.
The BUG is that they reversed (via Software) what the Brightness button does -- So it is currently reversed -- "Lighten" makes it Dark -- "Darken" makes it Bright ==> Go figure Microsoft screw the pooch on this one. . . .

This is for LAPTOP -- I have never seen this on Desktops but they are fixed rather than adjustable
