Windows 10: Update error 0x80004005

My windows machine running Windows 11 updated. After the update it had major issues. The firewall went down, it wouldn’t connect to the network, and my windows defender was missing. I was also getting an error 0x80004005. I consulted the system admin professors at my college, they were stunned by how badly the update had effected my machine. The machine is 3 months old, so I factory reset. After the reset everything seemed fine, except my Window said it wasn’t activated. So I tried to activate, but I get a 0x80004005 error. Error 0x80004005

I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?
