Windows 10: update Error 0x80070017

Receiving this error, even with several re-tries. 2018-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4483235) - Error 0x80070017


NOTE: Machine has been slow and subject to hang-ups for last month. Have re-installed Win10 several times. Seems to help initially but son returns to long lag times, and long non-responsive times.


Any Ideas?

Disk Issues/ Error 0x80070017

What is the exact error code that you receive? Is it 0x80070017 or 0x80070012?

This issue may occur if there is a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) failure during the update process. This failure may occur if the received file is not the file that is expected by Windows Update

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it help:

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Chkdsk.exe tool to check the disk for errors. Follow the steps below for the same:

• 
  Press Windows key+ R
  
• 
  Type chkdsk C: press Enter
  

Method 2:

You may also rename the Windows Update components folder and verify the result.

a) Press "Windows key + X" and click "Command Prompt (Admin)".

b) Type "net stop wuauserv" and press enter.

c) Type "rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old" and press enter.

d) Type "net start wuauserv"and press enter.
