Windows 10: update Error 0x80242fff

I'm getting an error message for Windows update Adobe Error 0x80242fff, I ran the update troubleshooter and it could not find the problem.

Update for Windows 10 (KB3081452) - Error 0x80242fff

How do I fix this error? As stated in the title, I keep getting Error 0x80242fff while installing KB3081452 update.

 

Issues with updating security update for Adobe flash player and getting error code "0x80242fff" and while checking for updates getting error code (0x80080008).

Hi Nyima - thank you for your suggestions. Here are the results.

Step1 - Metered connection set to off:

Failed - error code 0x80242fff

Step2 - Proxy settings. Only automatically detect settings was "on" - set to "off":

Step3 - Synchronize with the internet time zone - re-synchronised with server time.windows.com:

Failed - error code 0x80242fff

I believe the download of the update file is completing successfully and it is the installation process that is failing. The reason I think this is -

1. When clicking "check for updates" and finding the update in question, I can see the download progress bar get to 100%.

2. Today I had the case where the download had already taken place and was waiting for me to click the "Install Now" button. When I clicked the button, that was the point I got the update failed with error code 0x80242fff message.

I also have MS office installed, those updates are being detected and auto installed successfully. The same is true of the apps I have installed. I therefore think this may be a specific problem with the installation of this particular Windows 10 update.

Just for info - the version of Adobe Flash player that is installed is 22.0.0.192
