Windows 10: Update from 1909 to 20H2 Stuck at 99%

After 4 hours of waiting the upgrade from version 1909 to 20H2 is stuck at "Getting things ready 99%" - after several downloads and installing operation. How long do I wait? Can I reboot via the power switch and see if that clears it. Any other options? Can I go back to 1909 which worked just fine for me. I am running Win 10 pro

Maybe I've been lucky but I've yet to have any update take over an hour to complete. To me 4 hours seems extreme, and now 10 hours... something isn't right.

Even on my old 2013 Asus Zenbook Prime with 4gig of memory no update has taken that long. And I'm running insiders on it.

Great decision. Make sure as a minumum you image all Windows partitions not just 'C:'
Then use it regularly. Large enough external storage required.

And arrange to hang back on Windows Updates one way or another.

You have Pro, so why not use your Group Policy Editor to set WU to 'Notify' - which means that YOU are in control and no update is downloaded until YOU say so... until perhaps end of service life.





And you can use group policy to defer feature updates for up to 365 days.
