Windows 10: update from Windows 10 version 1703 to 1809 failed

I literally only just realized that my HP Pavilion 10 laptop is really behind on updates and when I try to update to a newer version of Windows 10, I have tried updating through my laptop's "Window's update" feature in the settings and it comes up with "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803 - Error 0x80242006" (I have searched this up and everything that I could find on this doesn't help). After this failed I downloaded the latest version of Windows 10 that I could find (version 1809), everything went well until it came to the final restart where it came up with a message "restoring previous version of windows". Can anyone help?

Dear Saurabh,

The update will fail in number of Scenarios:

• If the system is not compatible for the update.
• If the update is not required onto the system.
• If the update is already installed and the windows update has discovered a similar version i.e a copy of the same.

Hence if it is not getting installed there is no need to worry

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
