Windows 10: Update hung at 30% for 6 hours

My laptop was updating to the latest preview build today, and has hung at 30%.

I had to go out and when I got back 6 hours later, it is still hung at 30%.

Is there any chance that it will actually complete the installation if I just leave it overnight, or is this as far as it's likely to go?

If it's the latter, I would be grateful for any recommendations in what to do to minimise damage?

Update 7.0.7392.0 Hang

There is no error code, just hung at Step 6 of 10 for more than 2 hours.

I re-started the update, and again hung at Step 6 of 10 for more than 2 hours.

Need help..

The link provided does say for Windows 8.1 but the steps applies to Windows 10 too. I mentioned
Applies to Windows 10 to clarify that. Please try the method and do not forget to back up your registry before you attempt it. That would keep you on a safer side.

30% is just before it reboots for the first time. You could hard power off and then restart and it may carry on. It isn't going to continue if it has been stuck for 6 hours so you need to hard power off anyway at some point.

Whether it completes or not (it might roll back) you should still have the download files to make an ISO as described here ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File - Windows 10 Forums
