According to both AMD and Microsoft, the fix for the old Athlon based computers should be out next week.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave.

Add another one to the list for my oldie but efficient MSI ADM notebook! More concerned with compatibility!
AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 CPU, 4GB of Ram, its latest chipset & BIOS is Legacy:
I have tried several times to update to Windows 10 CU v1709 but each time it downloads to around 80% an error message appears: "A hyper transport sync flood error occurred on last boot - Press F1 to resume" then it starts to restore previous version 1607 Windows! Never seen this error on my other Windows 10 builds...

I have this problem also, I have a 10 year old Compaq Presario SR5505F with an AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core processor and 4 gb of RAM, and it's been working fine until this latest update. I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and I get this error message:

There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800705b4)

Your device is at risk because it's out of date and missing important security and quality updates. Let's get you back on track so Windows can run more securely. Select this button to get going:

And then there is a Retry Icon, and when I restart my PC it gets hung up Updates are installing Do not turn off your Computer and does not reboot.

I just press the power button, wait 30 seconds and restart the PC.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, too *Smile

Microsoft have released KB4073290 on the Microsoft Catalog.
This seems to be the update required to get an old Athlon type machine up to version 16299.192.

    It's a 600MB download!

I'm off to try it out, will report back soon.

    Dave.

    I've downloaded and installed KB4073290.

It took about 10 minutes to install, before requesting a restart. It then took another 10 to set itself up and configure Windows.

    I'm now running version 16299.194.

NOTE: KB4073290 should be downloaded and installed before un-pausing or un-hiding the old KB4056892.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave.

This is like the previous update, I couldn't get it to install. After I downloaded it, I got a message that it did not install.
But the previous update, KB4056892, is not hidden or paused. Also, I'm running 1709 Build 16299.15.

Can somebody instruct me on how to pause or hide an update? Maybe that's problem? Thanks for any help *Smile

Okay, I downloaded the Windows Update Mini Tool to hide the previous update, but it's still not installing *Sad

After doing all this, should I install KB4056982, or just leave it hidden?

Once you have KB4073290 fully installed and you are running build 16299.194, your computer will not try to download or install KB4056892. You can 'Check for Updates' in 'Settings', and it should report that it is up to date.

KB4073290 is a Cumulative Update, it contains all the updates since the launch of version 1709, hence the higher build number of 16299.194 verses the 16299.192 build of KB4056982.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave.
