  1. update KB4462933

Since this update my onboard realtek audio and my intel graphics are not working properly. The only one I really care about is the sound card. My mobo is a gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H which has been working just fine for years. The software from realtek via Gigabyte was wonderful for adjusting surround etc.. Now since the update it only shows a single plug 2 speaker configuration. This is BS in my opinion that we are forced to take these updates that are not fully tested and they screw up your ability to use things that were working fine. Microsoft needs to fix this. And why when I uninstall the patch and restart does it reinstall the same defective patch. FFS get your **** straight.

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond update KB4462933 :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  3. mouse and keyboard not working since update kb4462933 29/10/18

I would suggest that you uninstall kb4462933 and hide it so that it doesn't install it automatically and wait for new update to come which will be installed automatically.

To know which update got installed

Windows Key+i to invoke Settings > Update & Security > Click View installed update history. These KBs should be from the below list. Don't uninstall any other KB

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4099479

Make note of KB and uninstall and block it.

    Uninstall

Windows Key + R > Type: appwiz.cpl > Enter > Click View installed updates > Select the required updates, right click, uninstall.

    Block

Microsoft has provided a tool Show/Hide Updates tool to block the update

Download the tool from below link

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

When you run this troubleshooter, it will search for available updates and list them

Select the update which you want to hide. Click Next and follow on-screen directions

Do let me know if you have any more question or require further help. If above didn't work, I will supply more troubleshooting steps to solve this problem.

    update KB4462933

1803 KB4462933 Update Just Caused Loss of Files and Apps - Anyone Else

This is Weird - I thought this only happened with the 1809 upgrade.

I left my computer for a few minutes and touched the keyboard to activate the screen when I came back.

On activation, there was text on the screen suggesting than an indeterminate update was underway. When it finished, and I logged in, all of my personalization was gone - icons were missing from the task bar and desktop and all files were missing from Pictures and Videos folders. Previously installed apps such as the Office 365 apps and Windows Live Mail were not installed.

I recall there was a nag screen present that suggested the applied update was the October update, but when I looked in the update log, it suggested the most recent update was KB4462933 for 1803.

Anyone else experienced this and know of a recovery option ?

    TIA
