Windows 10: update new instal win 7

Having trouble getting win updates on Dell D620 32 bit, it sat for years and I decided to install new HD and loaded the win7 refurb disc and of course can't run update without the following error: code 80072EFE. Tried a few KB's: Windows6.1-KB3138612-x86, windows6.1-kb4490628-x86, Let me know if you need more info

win 7 fails to install updates

i have this for a fiew days now
when system shuts down it starts installing it
when it boots up it undos the instal says its failed..
anny way to fix it?

Confusing.
I assume you mean "not happy" instead of "beyond happy".

At the very least you'll need:

1. A legitimate W7 install disk and Product Key
2. KB976932 Service Pack 1
3. Driver install files
4. KB3020369 Prerequisite for KB3125574
5. KB3125574 W7 SP1 Update Rollup (Windows will be updated to April 2016)

Then follow this tutorial:

Once you have successfully installed W7, the updates listed above and the drivers, install a program like Macrium Reflect and create at least 2 Backup System Images (on different external HDDs).

Once you have created the Backup System Images, you can risk downloading the remaining updates for W7.
I only install the Security-Only updates (and some fixes for them):



Note:
You'll also need to apply IE and .NET updates separately.

 

Windows 7 update help needed

Language packs should be listed in the optional updates section of Windows Update.

As for installing Win 7, it should merely ask for the qualifying media to be inserted to the dvd drive. That's what XP upgrade install discs did when there wasn't a previous OS installed.
