Windows 10: Update to 2004 experience.

Thank you all for the valuable information you provide. Yesterday I did some routine drive cleanup and created a new backup image. Ironically I received my first notice for the 2004 update today. Like others I have been tempted to get the 2004 iso ad "try it out" but instead I let it come to me. I have an old GTX video card that has been reliable for years with all MS Flight Simulator versions and did not want it "modified". The AMD CPU also has a graphics driver that works well but not quite as fast as the old Nvidia card. I also have significant audio recording applications I did not want to take a chance on yet. I also have several other "bought" applications I did not want to lose.

Because I made my cleanest and latest backup image yesterday I figured I would take a chance on 2004 today. It actually went smoothly. There were no major glitches just a couple of bugs, I mean features, worth honorable mention.

I have a local version of Turbotax and it had to be re-activated. Also I still have the Win95 Winaero games and had to reinstall those which is not that uncommon after an update. After the first restart, there were additional updates that downloaded and installed. I did not notice which "KB" they were.

After another restart I had to re-activate Turbotax again. Also this time Explorer was listing the external USB drives twice. I thought this had been corrected several updates ago. Anyway I fixed that. After additional restarts I can say all applications are properly registered and working. Current win version is 2004 19041.450. Thanks folks.

geforce experience takes an age to load..

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.

Shared Experiences

Hi,

Shared Experiences allow you to start a task on one device and finish it on another, or easily set up a remote control or other companion apps on a smartphone. If you don’t want to use the feature, we suggest that you disable it. Kindly follow these steps
below:

• Click
  Start.
• Select
  Settings.
• Click
  System.
• Select the Shared experiences link on the left-hand side. Here you will see a switch that lets you toggle the Share across devices feature to the On or Off position.
• Enable it then restart your computer.
• Go again to Shared Experiences in Settings app, and disable it completely.
