Windows 10: Update to 20H2 failure

My system has made four attempts to update to 20H2,and failed each time. My current OS is 1909 build 18363.1556, and the last successful update was 11/11/2020.Three of the update attempts follow the same pattern:-Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 3Last failed install attempt on ‎03/‎07/‎2021 - 0xc1900101One attempt reports a slightly different error code:-Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2Failed to install on ‎10/‎06/‎2021 - 0xc1900104Do you have any suggestions? Running on a HP laptop.

20H2 should not be installed right-away on your device - MS said the rollout is only to a fraction of users and would be labeled as an optional update initially. Are you enrolled in WIP?

You may uninstall 20H2 using the steps below:

Update History is not showing v.20H2

This is normal behavior in Windows 10, typically when you install a Feature Update like 20h2, the update history is wiped, this is to prevent the user from trying to uninstall an update that was prior to the Feature Update, which would de-stabilize Windows
10, the list should start building again, when some updates are applied to version 20h2 . . .

 

cannot update 20H2 build 19042.662 for last 2 months

There are multiple steps that can be performed to troubleshoot failed upgrades.
An in place upgrade repair if it fails should generate an error message and code that is useful to start the troubleshooting.
So for a failure start an new thread with the error message and code and logs can be collected.
