    Update to Build 10586

I currently have Windows 10 (Build 10240). For some reason when I attempt to update my system it says that no updates are available. Does anyone know why I can't update to Build 10586?

The latest Windows Defender updates install, but not the latest build.

    :)

  2. Losing Favorites In Edge?

    Hi Gary,

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

1511 is the Operating System Version and 10586 is the Build Number. That shouldn't confuse you. Both of these is what comprises the November update or the latest Windows update as of now. So basically anyone upgrading to Windows 10 would see Build no as
10586 installed on the computer. It is not that 1511 was offered but it ends up with 10586. If you have Build 10586, then you have the latest update installed.

    Hope this helps.

Lumia 950 XL cannot connected to registered hidden SSID

You are not reporting proper build numbers. one example:

10586 is not a build. there have been nine different builds released under 10586.XXXX

you should mention the whole build number, not just part of it.

    Update to Build 10586

    Try do a manual in-place install :

Use this Tech Bench link and download the Windows 10 iso file:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...brrWLRbagYCa0w

scroll down to Select Edition > click the pointer at the right and select Windows 10 > click Confirm.
click the pointer and select Language > make sure you pick the same language the computer is now running > click Confirm
select the bit version, 32 or 64-bit. Make sure you select the same bit version as the computer is now running.
at the bottom, click the pointer next to Save > click Save As > navigate to a folder of your choice > click the chosen folder > click Save
The iso will start downloading to your chosen folder.
When it is done, go to that folder > open the folder > right click at the iso file > click Mount > click Setup.exe
    Installation will begin.
It will allow you to keep you files, settings and apps.
    No product key is required.
    Activation will be automatic.

*** after you are done installing and Win 10 10586 is activated, you can burn the iso file to a bootable media such as DVD or USB. You can use that for future re-install. ***

Thanks! Any ideas on why the regular Windows Update isn't working though? Is there just a distribution lag or do I have a bigger problem? My system seems to be running fine and I haven't had any update problems until now. I plan to reformat or "recover" or whatever it's called now in the near future so I'm hoping that will clear this up if nothing else.

I have no answer why you do not get the update.
There are still a few "who knows" in this new OS.

That said, the possibility of a compatibility issue looms high.

I randomly ran across the following web-site that answers my initial question. Interesting that they're doing this... I thought one of the key ideas behind Windows 10 was to eliminate versioning... this seems like it's creating them.
