These are the links for the softpaq download manager: HP SoftPaq Download Manager Release Notes | HP Client Management Solutions
See if you can get one of these to install. If not then you have two choices for downloads: The HP support assistant or the HP web site: click function + escape keys simultaneously, enter your product number, choose your operating system.

The instructions also had: image-to-USB tool (for example: PassMark ImageUSB) so you will need to learn how to use it.

Any chance you have recovery media for your computer? If so you may have the driver on the application DVD.
Alternatively if you backed up your drive you may still have access to your download folder. If you have it then you may be able to find this download and reinstall it.

The computer that you are using is a consumer computer. HP has two different lines, one for consumer and one for business. The business notebooks have different software. So you likely are unable to install both the softpaq download manager and the performance advisor

I just called HP and they reported the following:
What is critical for this firmware is the bios setting.
The operating system whether windows 8 or 10 is irrelevant as the firmware instructions remain the same.
You will install the passmark or similar software on you hard drive.
The software will make the USB bootable so that the firmware can be installed.

If you need to download any softpaq you can get to it by the following web site: FTP.HP.COM
    Then click on PUB
Then scroll to find the softpaq number.
There are generally three types of files: CVA, HTML and EXE

So stick with windows 10. There is no advantage /disadvantage of installing this firmware with either operating system. It is dependent on the bios setting. The UEFI bios setting is better for security and for boot times.

    You are confusing the following:
    1. BIOS firmware update
    2. Hard drive firmware update

#1 has nothing to do with Windows & is not a Windows driver. According to HP, there is no BIOS Update for your model.
    Current BIOS is F.33 Rev.A, Aug 14, 2015
#2 is almost never needed. Your links says "Hitachi Hard Drive Firmware Update"

HP just released BIOS updates for many different models, I got mine last week.
To install a BIOS update, double-click the downloaded file & follow all the instructions.

    Hello all,
Just as an update to this thread, I never did get this to work and I guess it was a blessing I had to replace the fan in my notebook and noticed that a Seagate hard drive was installed and not the Hitachi (per manual and HP website). I also check on several other parts for my notebook and there were about 5 other parts that showed different part# than what it states on the specification manual.

Guess I have a Heinz 57 notebook. Pieces of whatever HP had leftover.

Lesson learned. Don't go by what the manual/website states, look for yourself. LOL

Continuation to this issue - since my HP15 notebook has a Seagate Hard Drive and not a Hatachi. How do I go about checking if there is an update to the firmware. The HP website only shows listing for the Hitachi. Thanks for your help.

zbook - I could give you the biggest hug and kiss. You fixed a big problem with my computer. This whole issue started with a hard drive error and I was told to fix my firmware and BIOS or replace my hard drive. I went to the Seagate site and put in my hard drive serial number and it stated "Not found", so no BIOS update.

BUT, I noticed the Seatool download that says it might fix some issues, I downloaded it and TA-DA no more error message.

Thank you very much for all your help.
