    update to retail version

    But then you said this...
    Which is not correct.

Even after the 1 year is up you still have a retail version of Windows 10. The licensing is the only thing that is not the same. The full retail license version is already out and can be bought from MS.

Please.. read the entire post.. that was a reply to another question. Not the OP. Post #2 was my reply to the OP and not that post,.

The question in the OP was in essence .. is the upgrade going to be the same as the retail and the answer is YES.. I said that in post #2.. any other post after did not address that question.,

Yes, you answered this question, which is technically incorrect as it would be based on the circumstance stated by LCDR:
Now if the user missed this opportunity and decided to upgrade the computer from 7/8/8.1 after the free year is up, then, yes, that user needs to buy a full license retail key.

This is my fault. For some reason I only read the first half of your post #6, and that is what I responded to. Your entire post #6 is correct.

Sure do get tired of the same people rehashing the same question over and over. You tend to take over a thread and make it useless to the OP and anyone else searching and looking for answers.

Sinmply point anyone with this kind of question to Mystere's post: Frequently Asked Questions about the Windows 10 Free upgrade

That should answer pretty much any question.

Edit: Yes, I know I could just not continue to read threads like this but that is not my point.
Edit#2: If Mystere's post is not good enough, y'all get together and come up with one that satisfies all of you then have it pinned.

Hopefully it will get you and the others who regularly beat this topic to death to let it go.
Probably not but I thought it was worth a try.

And yet the thread continued on for another 17 posts. You just successfully made my point *Smile

Jeff, I'm not attacking you or NavyLCDR or anyone else and if that's how it appears then I'm sorry.

I am not a MOD, and I am not acting like one. I have a right to express my opinion which I have done.
Seems I'm now dragging out this thread as well so I'm done.

  10. alright folks; lets keep this whole thread clean and simple ok. No need to hash or talk "dirty" etc about anyone about theirs posts etc. Just the right and correct info is needed. Thats all. And from what it appears; it looks as if I am good because I did in fact do a clean install of some of the versions prior to 10240 and then when 10240 came out which appears is the same as the retail one from what i can gather; i installed that one as well and thus far so far so good with a few minor exceptions here and there.
