Windows 10: Update to Windows 10

I have been on and off trying for a couple of years to update Windows 10 on my laptop and it has always failed but this week I decided to properly try!


Current Edition - Windows 10 Home

Version - 1803

Installed on - 13/6/2018

OS Build - 17134.1345

Storage Space - 73 GB


The error codes have gradually changed but it is now currently 0X80070057.


From looking at recommendations to fix I have successfully:

• Run Windows Update Troubleshooter
• Removed Antivirus software there was no encryption software to remove
• Run DISM tool
• Run SFC scan
• Updated all device drivers
• I have no extra hardware installed
• Checked if there were any hard-drive errors with chkdsk/f C: - there were none
• There is no extra RAM extra to remove

Following advice from the Microsoft Virtual Agent I have downloaded the Windows Update Reset Tool. When I click on the ResetWUEng file a blue window opens and says that I am not running as Administrator. I am the only Administrator on my laptop so I can't see what the problem is.


Can anyone help as I am hoping this will eventually help me update Windows 10!!

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
