Windows 10: update troubles

so i posted earlier on another sub about my uodates hanging near completion.

I'm on version 1809, I had two updates pending installs. 1903 & 1909. Tried to install months ago, it would never finish. Tried again now, same thing. It comes to a dead stop at 92% and doesn't budge.

Error report says "15003". I tried to check the panther folder, but for some reason despite it saying it was modified today, all the files within it haven't been updated since I first got this computer a little over a year ago, so I have no way to tell what could be causing it.

I tried a bunch of things including scripts to clean out windows update settings, to no avail. Now, I can no longer download the update. It just keeps telling me that my computer is up to date while at the same time reminding me that my version will soon no longer be serviced. The option to download 1909 or 1903 is just gone.

I can manually attempt to download and update to 2004... but I'm frustrated enough as is with the fact that it wouldn't just update, let alone updating straight into a horde of driver issues.

What do I do? I need to update this machine.

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Intel E5200 Gets Updated, R0 Stepping Coming Up

Intel's Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor is getting on course for a specifications update. The chip will feature in a new, improved Wolfdale-2M core, spec'd out as the R0 stepping, from its current M0 stepping. The new stepping is intended to add new instructions, power-management features, and bring about changes in the chip-package. A short list of known changes is as follows:

• CPUID changed from 10677 to 1067A
• Power State Indicator (PSI) support with Intel 4 series chipsets
• New instructions - XSAVE and XRSTOR
• New S-spec and MM numbers
• New halide-free chip package

Due to the changed CPUID, users may require BIOS updates to detect the CPU. According to the company, E5200 R0 should be out by April 13.
