  1. Updated to 1809

I held off the 1809 update until I saw that other people around me didn't choke from it. Last Sunday was my "go" date.

The install forced me to uninstall Sandboxie. So I did. The 1809 install continued, but ultimately failed with a promise to try again someday.

Rather than wait for a retry ... I ran Win Update again. It failed again.

Online info suggested that I run the update troubleshooter. That fixed it and 1809 finally installed. (Long install, multiple reboots.)

    Problems:
    1. My Presonus Audiobox would not work. I had to install a new driver for it. That was easy.

    2. I hoped that I could find a new version of Sandboxie (free version) to replace the one I had to uninstall.
Good news: There was a version released just weeks ago, specifically intended to deal with 1809. It installed. S'good.
It's a good thing I did NOT delete the contents of my existing sandbox folders. The new Sandboxie software found them. S'good.

    3. Native Instruments Kontakt has a problem. It does not survive a sleep/wakeup cycle. I have to kill it and restart it upon wakeup. Annoying.

    4. My old MS games were deleted ... minesweeper, solitaire, hearts.
I knew that would happen. It happened on my wife's laptop with the 1809 install weeks ago.
At that time I simply copied the contents of the "Microsoft Games" folder from my computer to hers, and copied one dll (can't remember the name) from my C:/windows/system32 folder to hers.
So this time I copied in reverse. The games now work fine on my 1809.

    5. The Start Menu got altered to Microsoft's "standard". I simply shuffled things around to conform to "my way", and recovered some shortcuts from a backup. Simple.

I've not encountered any other problems ... yet.

    :)

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Updated to 1809 :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  3. Update Windows 10 to 1809 manually

It's been a while after Microsoft released an update to fix issues in the initial Windows 10 1809 update. But the page where we can download the updates as standalone packages still has a hole instead of download link to the 1809.17763.1 version package:

    Updated to 1809 IrC85.png

Windows 10 Update Assistant page is useless as well, since it offers to download April 2018 Update, lol.

So, I can't update my 1803.17134.376 to 1809 even after more than a month since it's initially was released.

(Of course, "drastically improved" Windows Update doesn't suggest the 1809 update, too. Actually, it has been never working on this Win 10 copy, so I used to download all the updates manually via the first link in this post.)

Has anybody figured out a way of how to manually update from 1803 to 1809?

Without hardcore stuff, please, like making bootable media which potentially would have a great chance of destroying the currently installed Win 10 copy Updated to 1809 :)

UPDATE: I was completely confused by that "Microsoft recommends" wording near the 1809 update on that page and some top articles in Google saying that it was released and ready for production with that quick patch. So, this question is from this confusion.

Thanks to comments below and @music2myear answer, it's clear now that 1809 is still not released. So, there is no point in update attempts (at least for me) at the moment.
