  2. Too much bass with Windows 10's Realtek update

    Hi,

I just recently upgraded to Windows 10 only to find that the sound had changed dramatically. I presume this is because it may have automatically updated the Realtek HD Audio driver...the problem is, there's WAY too much bass. I've been using FL Studio for
example and whilst before I could hear vocals perfectly over my instrumental, they are now drowned out by the slightest bit of bass, even at full volume. When I'm listening to music as well, the bass muffles everything and it just sounds bad and extremely
noticeable too. Was wondering if there's a way around this or to restore the sound back to what it was before I upgraded to Windows 10?

  3. No bass after Windows Update

Thank you for the response. It is Windows 10 Version 1703.

    For myself,

Since the sound quality changed immediately after the update of June 4th, I expected that the alteration of sound quality was due to something in the update, so I created a Restore point just before that update installation. No effect on sound quality.

Next I right clicked on the Sound icon at the bottom right of the taskbar. I thought I remembered a set of options to control treble and bass there, but that must have been years ago because there are no such options now.

Then I went to Control Panel-->Sounds. I thought I remembered controls for treble and bass adjustments there. If they ever were there, they aren't now.

Lastly I called or chatted with Microsoft tech support. They probably went through steps outlined in the official manual (I don't recall exactly what they were) but none produced any change in sound quality. I remember one of them had me download some
app or program which was supposed to enhance the bass element of sounds. It also did not enhance the bass element.

I have not reinstalled or updated the audio device driver nor was it suggested to me by Microsoft tech support. I have never done that before. Easy to do on some Microsoft support website?

thank you again for your help

Updated to windows 10, sound is now very muffled and hardly any bass

Sound is muffled, is there a fix?

Same issue (muffled sounds, especially voice) after upgrade to Windows 10. Using Realtek High Definition Audio. Worked fine in Win 8.1 previously.

I got things working again by adjusting the Surround Sound / Stereo settings. For more detail, this is how I got it back to work with no new drivers.

    1. Search for Sound (should be under settings)

    2. Click Configure while selecting the Realtek Speakers

    3. Click on Stereo and then Next through to the end.

    4. Test the sound

If it's not working, there might be another option, suggested by other users on this forum:

    1. In the Sound settings, click on Properties while selecting your Speakers

    2. In the Enhancements tab, click Disable all sound effects

    3. In the Advanced tab, unclick "Allow applications to take exclusive control..."

    4. Apply the settings and test the sound.

A third option, suggested by other users, is to roll back to drivers for Windows Vista (see above):

They said: Realtek 10/1/2013, 6.0.1.7054 sound great on Windows 10.
