Windows 10: Updates, Troubleshooter, MTP USB, Photos, Groove Music - NOT WORKING

Windows Updates, Windows Troubleshooter, MTP USB, Windows Photos, Groove Music - all NOT WORKING.


I discovered this the other day when I connected my android phone and it could not be found. Then I notice Groove Music not playing any mp3 and Photos not opening any photos. I tried to "uninstall" them but that will not work either. Tried to run troubleshooter-no go. Tried to run updates - no go. I can see that Photos and Groove Music was installed on 12/11/2020 so on that update something did not go right and I did not know about it until the other day. I have been trying also to reinstall the MTP for Samsung - no luck.


I had performed a fresh delete and rebuild win 10 from ground up last July 2020. Everything was perfect up until 12/11/2020. I have a bootable thumb drive from July still if I need to do that but hoping it's an update gone wrong and somehow i can correct it and retry an update. The drive has been checked with no bad sectors.

Groove Music


My Groove music suddenly stopped playing files when I doubleclick on them (groove music launches but is blank). I can use a different player but I have to click into that player as Groove Music is my default. I am reorganizing all of my music (tens of thousands of files) and this won't work for me.
Any suggestions?
I have Windows 10 on a PC.
I found an online troubleshooting that suggesting I delete temporary files and reset Internet explorer which I did and which has not helped.

Duplicates in Groove Music

I suggest you to run the App troubleshooter and check if that helps:

I would also suggest you to turn off and on the media info of Groove music and check. here is the steps:

• Open Groove Music.
• Click on Gear icon (settings) present on the left side of the app.
• Turn Off the media info and then turn it on.
