Windows 10: updating failure for 1903 or 1909

2019-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based Systems (KB4524570) - Error 0x80070017

Since October 2019 I have tried many times for updating and received the failure notice and to retry .

Action Taken:-

1) sfc /Scannow- Result = no problem.

2)Startcomplementcleanup- Result=No integrity violations.

3)DISM /……/Restorehealth- Result= No source file.

4) Downloaded WIM-ISO file mounted on ‘G’

5) DISM………./Restorehealth /Source:G:\sources\install.WIM – Result = still no source file.

I do not know what to do next?

Another connected issue:-

Despite the warning in red about security fixes,

(1) in the Setting menu, under trouble shoot;-in trouble shooting -run the trouble shooter -result = couldn’t identify the problem.

(2) in the same setting menu ,under window security – in the protected areas - all appeared OK with green checks mark.

(3) Using window 10 update assistance- It says Thank you for up dating the latest version of Windows.

(4) In my Microsoft account, under Desktop- Krnfria, It says No issue!

My conclusion is that ,it appears no security problem nor updating problem contradicting the warning in red in the Window Update Menu?

A lot of time and learning into this exercise in updating. Some confusion results and the security of this my computer is unknown or unresolved.

Is Windows 1909 considered to be buggy?

Hi,

As of now, 1909 is more stable than 1903

1909 is a very minor update- not as big as a feature update. So in my opinion, it shouldn't be an issue to update.

The last 2 Windows 1903 updates have been very problematic with a wide range of issues, ranging from Print spooler broken to update failures. 1909 has no such problems.

Also note that you won't be offered to rollback to 1903 as this is a cumulative update not a feature update.

 

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

No you do not need to update to 1809 - 1903 if you are currently on version 1803, then version 1909 will appear in the list of updates and will automatically be installed on your PC since 1803 has run out of support

You do not need to do anything, 1909 is currently spreading around the world, just give it time to appear in the list of pending updates . . .
