Windows 10: Updating from 19042.572 bricks my computer?

    Updating from 19042.572 bricks my computer?


    5950x 3090 asus mobo

    the windows update downloads, and then when it comes to updating it gets stuck at 97% and then says that it's unable to complete and reverts the update. And then it bricks my computer.

    Any idea why and what I can do to get to .685?

    gpu bios update failed, gpu bricked

    I would suggest a cheap pci card and ensure you use the correct path where the bricked card is so you dont accidentally flash the pci card

    KB4586853 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.662 and v20H2 19042.662 Win Update

    That's a possible approach. But if I were to consider an in-place upgrade, I suggest a 19042 version (build 508 or 572).
    If you have been running 19041.630, then the SSU is probably an 19041 SSU. SSUs are generally not uninstallable. So if 661 is strictly 19042 and you've got a 19041 SSU, that may be the issue. I wish you the best on this.
