  1. Updating to 10049 has become slower and for no apparent reason.

I am currently struggling to get 10049 installed here:

I first upgraded to 10049 on March 30th, the download took about 20 minutes.

The install became stuck at 3% for over 25-30 minutes or so, then it continued.
The process went smoothly and in less than 3 hours 10049 was successfully up and running.

But yesterday i decided to reinstall everything from scratch, so that i could create a second partition for backups.
I installed all the patches for 10041, ran Disk Cleanup just to get rid of any junk files left by Windows Update.

I switched to the Fast ring and tried to upgrade to 10049.
The download once again took 15 to 20 minutes, then the PC was restarted.

This time, it got stuck at 2% for almost 2 hours, and it took nearly 6 hours to complete de installation.
I noticed the HDD had little to no activity during the process (i went to sleep and left the computer doing its thing).

The install was finally done, but the OS suddenly became buggy and unstable.

    - Spartan wouldn't open.
    - Two folders named "Korea Media Player Center" and "Korea Messenger Center" appeared on the desktop.
    - There was a very high RAM usage by the SVCHOST process.

When i did the upgrade for the first time, on March 30th, none of these problems appeared, it all went extremely well.

But this second attempt went terribly wrong.

What could have caused the upgrade to become slower?

Also, pardon me for my bad english.

    :)

  2. Windows Freezing and Slow for No Apparent Reason all of a Sudden

    Hello Matt,

Possible that some of the Windows system files on your computer have been corrupted. It might be also due to a software conflict that prevents your computer from working accordingly. To troubleshoot your concern, we suggest running the
System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files on your
computer. We also advise that you run the System Update Readiness tool to
    resolve Windows corruption errors.

If the issue remains after running the tools, we recommend performing a
    clean boot
on your computer to to eliminate software conflicts that may have occurred. After performing a clean boot,
start your computer in normal mode and check if the issue persists.

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the knowledge base article to boot the computer in normal startup after resolving the issue.

Let us know the outcome and if you need further assistance.

    Regards.

Windows Freezing and Slow for No Apparent Reason all of a Sudden

Last night, I left my PC on lock for roughly 2 hours. Prior to leaving it I had absolutely no problems.

When I returned it seemed as if the PC had restarted and possibly a new update had been installed. The problem is that my PC takes a good 10 minutes to boot now, the lock screen and desktop is laggy and freezes (just about un-usable).

The steps I have taken to attempting to fix this follows

-Reverting to an older version - This older version was at about 3pm,
7 hours before I left my PC
    .

    -Disabling all non Microsoft Services

    -Virus Scan (Norton)

    -Uninstalling Anti-Virus (Norton)

-Running a diagnoses. The diagnoses said that "Can't fix any errors" or something along those lines

-A disk check has happened automatically a few times which said "Repairing (\?\SystemPartition): 100% complete"

None of these has helped at all. My Desktop specs are listed below

    Desktop

    Gigabyte 1TB Hard Drive

    Gigabyte B150M-D3H Motherboard

    8GB RAM

    GTX 1070 GPU 8GB

    Intel(R) Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz 6mb

    500w PSU

    Windows 10 Home Version 1703 64-bit OS build: 15063.447

Updating to 10049 has become slower and for no apparent reason.

I've experienced that sort of slowness as well on an older Dell test machine. No idea what the upgrade is doing in all that time. Weird.

And, don't even think of apologising for your English. It is VERY good indeed. All I could see was no capital e in English and the odd lower case i where it should be I. Many people, where English is their first language, make more errors than you.

did you clean install 10041 or just refreshed it?
It's really slow up to 3% and the jump to 15% and slow again. After 30% it gets faster...
Next time make sure your internet is wired.

It is a clean install of 10041 onto a disk with only one partition. There is something it doesn't like on this machine - just wish it would find out before 5 hrs!

After re-instating 10041 it has an error code 0xc190010-0x30018 pop up. Very enlightening. There are a lot who had this code when failing to upgrade from 8 to 8.1.

Never mind - this is just a test machine to see how win 10 would run on an older spec comp. Still silly to be OK with one vers and not another, though.

Updating to 10049 has become slower and for no apparent reason.

The first time I tried to upgrade from 10041 to 10049 it took almost 5 hours and failed and restored to the 10041 build. I tried it again yesterday and after 4 plus hours I was finally successful in upgrading to 10049. Tried Spartan and it even worked.

I`m about to turn on that machine and see if it will update, I`m on the slow track and it`s been off for 3 days.

My update 10049 is taking forever, it`s been at 22% for hours *Shock good thing it doesn`t matter.

My test machine has a clean from ISO install of 10041. I changed from Slow to Fast ring and still no 10049 showing on the update list. I have no idea how to get the 10049 build from the Insider site as all it is showing is 10041 as of this morning. I am seeing very long startup times compared to Windows 7 and assume that is not uncommon.
The install of 10041 was complete except for my Asus DG sound card drivers; they were easily installed and sound is fine. Does anyone else have an issue with Windows sounds not being available? There is no startup or shutdown sound in the list.

Set your 10041 install to Fast and wait..... It takes awhile ..... just keep checking for updates may hurry it a little but I don't know?

That is wierd. I just did a clean install of 10041 the other day and ran the first update. Then switched to fast ring and got the 10049 update right away.
Run the 10041 update first before switching to fast ring.

As noted-mine was a clean install of 10041. Will try doing the Update again. There were 3 updates applied , including a Windows Defender one.

5:50pm 4/4 - Update is downloading 10049. Will see how this turns out.
