Updating Windows 10 Home v1903 to v2004: "This PC can't run Windows 10"

Running Win 10 Home 64 bit v 1903 on a Dell Vostro 1320 laptop, when I try to update to v2004, I get the message "This PC can't run Windows 10" with the specific error, "We couldn't update the system reserved partition" no error number. From the article “We couldn’t update system reserved partition” error installing Windows 10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3086249/we-couldn-t-update-system-reserved-partition-error-installing-windows, I believe the problem is that Win 10 requires 13 MB free space on an MBR system reserve drive to update, and mine has only 12.7 MB free. The article suggests deleting fonts from the drive to free up more space.

Following the directions in the article, I renamed the SRP y:. When I tried to "takeown" the Boot\fonts directory steps 8 and 9 under "Windows 10 with MBR partition." I received the error, "File ownership cannot be applied on insecure file systems; there is no support for ACLs," perhaps because the SRP is FAT32, not NTFS. I appear to be stymied.

Can anyone suggest a way around this roadblock?

    Thank you,

    Terry

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Is it time for Windows 10 already?

Again, for those that want the update reservation and you meet the requirements ---> Upgrade to Windows 10 for Free

And, some info from the FAQ page:

Also, some interesting info from the Specifications page:

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/defer-upgrades-in-windows-10

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.
