Windows 10: updating windows 10 to the newest version and get error code 0x80070003. what can I do

When I was upgrading to the newest version of windows 10 and got 0x80070003.

I suggest you to follow the steps given in the link below and check if it helps you. Select Windows 8.1 from the Product list.

Windows defender doesn't update- Error code 0x80070003

This applies to Windows 8/8.1 and probably applies to Win 10. Many of the suggested fixes for various issues have yet to be updated by MS to reflect whether they are applicable to the new OS.
