Windows 10: Updating windows/low disk space/Modern setup host

I have an ASUS notebook. It has 28GB only. I had trouble previously updating Windows 10 because there wasn't enough disk space. I contacted Microsoft who cleared space, but not enough for the update. They suggested downloading the ISO file to my sd card and installing and running from there. Howevever, I can't complete the steps as during installation the Modern setup host crashes every time. I have tried every fix I could find on the web, clean boots, disk clean up, using the DISM tool, deleting stuff etc. I have ended up completely resetting the notebook, but the modern set up host still crashes. How can I get this to work so I can install and run Windows 10 from my sd card (which has more space)? I'm not hugely tech savvy. Help me please - I've spent about 7 hours today on this.

• What particular action that you’re trying to perform at the time that it was accidentally deleted.?
• May we know where and how it was deleted on your computer?
  
• Were you able to check if the deleted file can be found in the
  Recycle bin?

As an initial step, we suggest that perform a DISM command. This will help repairing possible system file corruptions. Follow these steps:

• Type command in the search box.
• Right-click on the result and select Run as administrator.
• Type this command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
• Press Enter.
• Close the Command Prompt windows and check if changes were made related to the Modern Setup Host file.

UPDATE:

I performed all of the steps (no issues found, BTW) & Modern Setup Host is still an issue pushing disk usage to 100% ! The only change on the Lenovo was the update from MS.

(Method 1: Use the System File Checker and the inbox Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. This will help you scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. To
run it:

• Select Start Windows logo Start button, and in the search box, enter Command Prompt. Press and hold (or right-click) Command
  Prompt (Desktop app) from the search results and select Run as administrator.
• Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the spaces before each "/").
• Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").
