    Upgrade from Home to Pro

I recently got a Lenovo Yoga 3 14 with Win 10 Home Pre-Installed. I want the Pro version to have access to the Group Policy Editor and other Pro features. If I buy the $99 upgrade can that be transferred to another computer if I decided to return this Lenovo and buy something else that comes with the Home version of Win 10? Or it is like an OEM copy and can only be used on the first computer it is installed on?

    :)

How to downgrade the Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Home (upgraded from Windows 7 Home)

It means there is no way for Win 10 Pro downgrade to Win 10 home (upgrade from Win 7 Home) unless I reinstall the win 7 home then upgrade to win 10 home?

If I do the clean install of that PC installed Win 10 Pro upgrade from Win 10 Home (upgraded from Win 7 Home) and skipped the inserting key steps then connect internet, will my PC activate automatically for Win 10 Home or Win 10 Pro?

  3. upgrade from windows 8.1 home to windows 10 professional

    WYSIWYG.

Win8.1 Home upgrades to Win10 Home, Win8.1 Pro upgrades to Win10 Pro, etc.

<EDIT> Once you've upgraded from Win8.1 Home to Win10 Home, you can then purchase an upgrade to Win10 Pro.
    </EDIT>

My thinking is this Upgrade path from Home to Pro is for each individual install of 10 home. Once activated it is tied to that Home activation license.

In all honesty MS is starting to bite the big one.

What if you purchased the pro-pack upgrade for a retail licensed Windows 10 that is transferable according to it's license?

Yes maybe so but I was asking specifically about an OEM install of 10 Home. A Preinstalled version on a new Lenovo Yoga notebook.

I can't transfer the Lenovo Windows 10 to some other computer so I couldn't transfer the Pro upgrade. I just needed to ask. I figured as much before I asked the question.

    Upgrade from Home to Pro

And you still haven't got an answer substantiated by fact.... only internet posts. Just sayin'....

The real answer would come from calling or emailing Microsoft and asking them to send you the EULA for the pro-pack upgrade. Also, what is physically possible and able to be done in the real world may not match the limitations imposed by the EULA. I'm not saying take advantage of it, just sayin' what is probably possible.

If you have home edition, go to the windows store and look at the $99 upgrade to Pro, it says it is tied to the current PC. This was from a Windows 10 home upgrade from Windows 7 retail.

But at the store it says that the Pro upgrade is tied to one computer, "this one."

    Upgrade from Home to Pro

And what if it was purchased from another source other than the Windows store?

Anyway.... looks like the cheapest way would be to upgrade the Windows 8.1 to Pro, then upgrade to Windows 10:

It didn't say for 1 PC, it said for this PC or something of the sort. It was clear it wasn't a transferable license for 1 PC.

I can't go back and get the specifics now though because I bought the retail Pro. I mainly did this because I wanted a key, you don't get that any other way.

Which may also be iffy? " PKC is a non-transferable license that allows for a single install only. This is a Non-Returnable sku." Maybe that is OK, IDK.
