Windows 10: Upgrade to 10 pro

My old computer that died had Windows 10 Pro on it, so got a refurbed Dell Optiplex with 7 Pro on it. Is it possible to upgrade to 10 on this machine without spending a lot of money for the 10 OS?

I'm using Window Pro and recently upgraded to Windows IIS 10.0.16299.15 . The application I'm using works fine until a Windows Update is pushed to my computer. My application (IIS APP POOL/DefaultAppPool) can not access the paths listed above. As the Administrator
on my computer, I am unable to modify permission to W3wp.exe (IIS Worker) either. In the past, it would become accessible, after 24 hours. I checked the lock-out policy and none of the setting appear to be affecting this. What is the Windows Update programing
doing to lock-out my permission? Microsoft please fix the Windows Update for IIS 10.

Yep. Download the Windows 10 ISO file:

Mount it using a program like WinCDEmu:
WinCDEmu - the easiest way to mount an ISO. And more...

Run setup.exe from the mounted ISO file.

 

Following the link provided I went there & read the article as to how to download & install 10; no luck. I've tried 2 times to run this application 'MediaCreationTool' & each time got the following error code 0x1800103-0x90002. After the first time I went online searching for an answer. Found this from an individual who said he deleted the folder; $Windows.~BT. I cut the folder & moved to an external HDD & ran the program again & got same results plus the folder had been recreated. Have no idea what it is.

You should be able to clean install Windows 10 on the Dell and use the Windows 7 key on the COA of the Dell to activate Windows 10.

Can you not, just run the MCT and select "upgrade now"? And skip downloading anything? Or have they removed that part? I get an "update now" option but I'm already running Windows 10.

You downloaded the wrong ISO, You don't want "Single language". You want the one labeled "Windows 10". It's multi edition Home and Pro.

 

Thanks Alphanumeric for your answer. I would have sworn in one of Brinks examples it showed the 'single language' only box ticked. I'll give it another try.

 

Which ISO you select depends on what OS your upgrading from. There are Home Single Language versions of Windows 8/8.1 that require that specific SL ISO. Regular Home and Pro versions require the Windows 10 ISO. The keys are not interchangeable from one to the other. SL will only accept SL keys. You also want to avoid K and KN unless you key is for K or KN.

 

This is a long shot but try entering this key VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T. It's the generic Pro key. If it lets you upgrade to Pro, then try your key to activate.
