Windows 10: Upgrade to latest version from "Windows 10 version 1507 build 10240"

Hey, I am just curious to install the latest version of windows but the problem is Can I update it from my version 1507 to the latest Windows version? Some say it is too old and will not support an update, instead better to go for a clean installation. But I just need to update my current version without performing a clean install. Did anyone do this before?

use the key you need for the build and run those lines in cmd to activate

Can I upgrade to Version 1709 (OS build 16299). If so what are the steps to do that.
