Windows 10: Upgrade Windows 10 Home to Pro Failing Error Code:0xc004f050

Bought a brand new laptop. Came with Windows 10 Home. It is activated. Need it to be Windows 10 Pro.

Went to Microsoft Store and purchased Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. Purchase completed.

When try to Install, it keeps failing with Error Code:0xc004f050 and simply says Windows upgrade failed. Have spent many hours now researching and trying to find fix or work around with no luck.

Can see the order in Microsoft account was purchased online from Microsoft store, so no Product Key


When go back to Microsoft store it shows Install button knows it's already purchased But can't complete the upgrade.


Any ideas?


any way to actually reach someone at Microsoft to correct this - other than paying them to fix the service we've already paid them for!?

I am upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro. I receive error code 0xc004f050 when entering the code.

Please help.

Note: I could not get the laptop to boot from the USB, so I installed directly from the USB; then entered the new key and received the error code 0xc004f050

Invalid for Activation, Failure Code: 0xC004F050

You can try and skipping entering the code on install and then do it after the install.

You might have to do a clean install or if this was a Home upgrade from 7 or 8 to 10, then roll back to 7 or 8 and keep your files and settings, then do the Pro upgrade.
