Windows 10: Upgraded from 8.1 to 10. is Avast compatible with Windows Defender

If Avast is not compatible with windows Defender then how can I uninstall Defender? I have used Avast for many years and am more comfortable with it. *Smile

I had two programmes namely Malwarebytes (Anti Malware) and Avast Antivirus. Now Windows Defender programme has ceased to work.

On Windows 8.1 before upgrading to Windows 10 I had two programmes namely Malwarebytes (Anti Malware) and Avast Antivirus. With these two programmes still active in Windows 10 the Windows Defender programme has ceased to work. Should I delete the two programmes

Many applications, files, and settings will migrate as part of the upgrade. However, some applications or settings may not migrate.-

Would finally suggest not to rush into Win10 immediately. Hope this helps.

 

When you install Avast or another AV Defender will be disabled.

Thank you for your reply but I upgraded and Avast was already installed (windows 8.1). Both Avast and Defender are active. The Defender icon is on the Taskbar and is active and requests to be updated.

I tried to find gpedit.msc but it is not to be found. This is becoming a little frustrating. Is there a way to uninstall Defender?

 

I think Group Policy Editor is only in the Pro version of Windows 10.

 

Open defender, go to settings. Then turn off real time protection. It may be on your computer but it does nothing. No more conflicts.
