Make sure you get a fresh ISO
After the clean install, take it slow on installing other pgms.

Leave Norton off until you're fairly certain there isn't another cause of the BSOD.
Defender is fine while you test the new install - even after - it's all I use.

As you install your favorite pgms, run through your normal routine (as much as you can without some pgms *Wink)

If you do BSOD, then I reiterate - get the folks over on the BSOD thread to read the dump and pinpoint the cause.

One more thing... Windows needs access to the Internet to activate... but it will also immediately begin installing it's version of video and sound drivers.. what should I do about that ?

I have Device Driver Automatic Installation turned off, yet Windows still gives me driver updates.
Following the tutorial to related tutorials I found this:
Driver Updates in Windows Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

I haven't tried it yet though.

Edit: I'm inclined to let Windows install all drivers and then manually find drivers only for devices that are flagged in Device Manager

I need to report back and outline how this has been going .. I did NOT do another clean install ... I decided to try and find the causes... So after the last repair install, I ran into some strange circumstances .... first off, I ran SFC and even after a repair install, found and fixed some issues... it has not found any issues since .. then, even though I had disabled fast boot, Windows re-enabled it .. so I took care of that... I was suspicious that windows had interfered with the video drivers, so I rebooted into safe mode, ran Nvidea driver cleaner, booted into standard mode with internet disconnected(even though I fixed Windows to not update hardware drivers) and installed the current Nvidea 64 bit drivers. That said, the system stabilized to a much better state. I still had an occasional BSOD that prompted me to rescan with my copy of driver easy. It reported it had updated drivers for my Logitech keyboard and mouse. I went to device manger, for about the 10th time and THIS time, there were exclamation marks on those 2 devices where there had been none before. I let Drivereasy do it's thing... that was about 2 weeks ago. Knock on wood, I have had no BSOD's since..... stability seems good... it's quick and totally functional. I had some issues with Windows Defender insisting on updating, even though it was turned off .. found a way to disable it completely in policy manager. Norton Internet Security has been fine since reinstalling .... That's about it... I'll report back if I can think of anything else that might help others ...
