Windows 10: Upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Pro

I apologise if this has been covered previously and if it has, someone could point me at the post.

I've been asked to upgrade a number of machines from Home to Pro. (My only experience is installing Windows 7 Pro using volume licencing upgrading to Windows 10 pro obtaining a digital licence in a corporate environment).

Can I buy say 20 upgrade licences from Home to Pro and just run an in-place upgrade. These machines are not all the same vendor, hardware, graphics card or processor. I would like this to be automated as much as possible.

Can I just ghost a master image, deploy it and change the licence post install?

Can't upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will assist you in the best possible ways.

I suggest you to download and create an installation media for Windows 10 Pro form the link provided below:

Download Windows 10

After the installation media is created, suggest you to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from the installation media. When the upgrade asks for product key, enter the product key purchased for Windows 10 Pro. If it does not accept, suggest you to skip the activation
step. After the Operating System is installed, suggest you to activate by phone by following the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + R” and type “slui 4” and press Enter.
• Select the Region from the list and click Next.
• Call the Toll-Free number provided on top and can activate via phone.

Upgrading Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro with a VLK

Hello,

I have multiple computers with Windows 10 Home Retail on them and I have a Windows 10 Pro Volume Licensing Key. How would I go about upgrading the Windows 10 Home computers to Pro without having to reinstall. I have tried following this post:

But the steps listed here do not work. It said to upgrade to Pro using a Windows 10 Pro default key. I entered the key listed but it does not upgrade from Home to Pro.

Is there a way to just put in the pro key on these computers and have it upgrade?

If you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

If you have purchased the Windows 10 Pro upgrade from Microsoft Store, I would suggest you to refer the section

However, if you have a Windows 10 Product key, you can refer the section
