Windows 10: Upgrading from Windows 10 home to Windows 10 Professional via a Windows 7 professional disk

I have an OEM version of Windows 10 home which was pre-installed on my computer. I also have a fully licenced version of Windows 7 professional, this is installed on a computer which is not capable of being upgraded to Windows 10; consequently it will no longe be used.

Is it possible to upgrade my Windows 10 home version to the professional version via my Windows 7 professional disk?

My current computer came with recovery versions of Windows 10 home on a its D drive and b on a USB stick.

If I can do the converison is it possible to download Windows 10 professional with all the current updates to a my computer and b my recovery media.

Is it time for Windows 10 already?

Why don’t I have the Get Windows 10 app?
If you don’t see the Get Windows 10 app on your PC, it might be because:

Your device isn’t up-to-date with at least Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.

Windows Update is turned off or is not set to received updates automatically.

You’ve blocked or uninstalled the necessary Windows Update functionality.

Your device is not running genuine Windows.

Running Windows Update and installing any available updates will fix the first three issues. Need more help? Go to our Windows Community Forum.

PCs that we determine cannot run Windows 10 will not see the Get Windows 10 app before July 29, 2015. After July 29, 2015, we’ll enable the icon in the system tray. This is to help ensure that you can easily check your PC’s compatibility if you choose.

Feature deprecation section

If you have Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, or Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center and you install Windows 10, Windows Media Center will be removed.

Watching DVDs requires separate playback software

Windows 7 desktop gadgets will be removed as part of installing Windows 10.

Windows 10 Home users will have updates from Windows Update automatically available. Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users will have the ability to defer updates.

Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts Games that come pre-installed on Windows 7 will be removed as part of installing the Windows 10 upgrade. Microsoft has released our version of Solitaire and Minesweeper called the “Microsoft Solitaire Collection” and “Microsoft Minesweeper.”

If you have a USB floppy drive, you will need to download the latest driver from Windows Update or from the manufacturer's website.

If you have Windows Live Essentials installed on your system, the OneDrive application is removed and replaced with the inbox version of OneDrive.

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.
