Windows 10: Upgrading Windows 10 got stuck at 92%

Hi Axe0 and Steve C. For the last attempt I did disconnect the peripherals and just before I ran it I got the latest update of my NVideo GeForce which installed successfully. As far as I am aware the other drivers are also up to date.

I ran sfc /scannow and no integrity violations were found. I'll give it a couple of days now (I'm updated out at the moment!) and then try the other suggestions and see if I have better luck.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice - I really do appreciate it as I'm no techno and this all gets a bit over my head.

 

Same issue. Tried again tonight and the installation on my desktop hung at 92% with configuring stuck at 69%.

Was trying to Update/Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10.

I have successfully upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 and like the fact that it loads up faster than Windows 7, unfortunately my desktop is not having the same luck.

 

It's my desktop that has the problem as well. What gets me so angry is that many people have had exactly the same error but you get no clue as to what is causing it, while Microsoft bleat on and on about upgrading and are going to the ends of the earth to blackmail or bully you into doing it. They'd have more success if they got the thing working before trying any other devious tactics to force people into doing it and offered possible reasons for this very common fault. Behind my back, Windows has made about ten attempts to install the update but every one has failed, presumably for the same reasons my four attempts have failed.

My three laptops all upgraded but one cannot get Cortana to work at all. One will not install the regular updates - even though it is set for automatic updates - unless I realise there are outstanding updates to the system and also to apps and spend ages messing about with various settings until, for no apparent reason, they spring into action. The third laptop plods along and everything will work most of the time but occasionally the whole thing will freeze up only to come back into operation some time later, once again for no apparent reason.

I really don't want to have to do a clean install on the desktop as it will involve reinstalling dozens of programs. I'm so reluctant to do this I'm seriously considering just leaving windows 7 on it until I want to replace the entire computer.
